Updates and News

  • 1/26/10: A big Thank You to everyone who donated eyeglasses. We collected 68 pairs of eyeglasses to donate to OneSight. -- from Livejournal
  • 1/21/10: Thank you to all who signed up or promoted the bone marrow registry drive. We got 76 people! -- from Livejournal
  • 1/19/10: For the seventh time Arisians answered the call to give life. The 101 successful donations to MGH & Children's Hospital are desperately needed (59 MGH/42 Children's), as two Arisians who were former patients of Children's came to tell us and the donors as they donated. The coordinator from Children's sent this as part of a message today: "Thank you for all your hard work, our blood supply has been very low the last couple of weeks and we appreciate all your hard work." Hard or no, I'm answering a call to act, just as all you donors and volunteers do. Bravo, everyone! -- from Livejournal
  • 1/19/10: The publications page has been updated with the newsletters from the con, the masquerade awards are listed and we've started a page for you to leave a comment with a URL for people to find your discussion.

Cold Weather Tips & Tricks

by Doctor Tom

Dress Warmly and Stay Dry

Adults and children should wear:

  • a hat
  • a scarf or knit mask to cover face and mouth
  • sleeves that are snug at the wrist
  • mittens (they are warmer than gloves)
  • water-resistant coat and boots
  • several layers of loose-fitting clothing

Stay dry -- wet clothing chills the body rapidly.

Sweating increases heat loss so remove extra layers whenever you feel too warm.
